Reminiscing...
I was hanging out over on Val's blog early this morning when I was again, awake at an ungodly hour... she is starting to ask the tough questions about childbirth and the first days postpartum. Stupid me, I never asked a lot of these questions and so things like random hemmerhoid checks, being grilled about whether or not you have used the bathroom yet (either one, nurses are obsessively interested in both!), XXL icepack maxi pads, the night sweats (my GOSH the night sweats), and blood clots the size of my head were all fun little surprises!
Thanks to my friend Meghan, who had her baby two weeks before me, however, the mesh panties at least, were not a total shocker.
Seriously. The whole experience is just indescribably undignifiying. Luckily, I was out of it enough due to lack of sleep and general discomfort and so distracted by the baby that I didn't really give it much thought at the time... just the scattered, "Wow. This is really humiliating!" thought followed by total gratefulness for the nurses who kept showing up with warm squirt bottles of water to hose things down.
Wow. Someone remind me why do people do this more than once?

More than once? I'm wondering why people do it at all...and THAT'S what the mesh panties look like?!?! Yikes! They better be comfortable, otherwise I'm writing a strongly worded letter to Victoria's Secret to create some Body By Victoria mesh panties.
Erin,
That made me laugh, As a midwife I have never seen these worn by younger people for that purpose.
What made me laugh is here we call them netty knickers and they are worn by our elderley nursing patients to keep incontinence pads in place LOL
Maybe it will catch on here!

wow Erin, you just about covered it. lol. And honestly, I am not yet to a point where I would be willing to do it again. and yet...I always wanted a big family...damn..
Mesh panties, here we come!
Mesh panties, here we come!
Thanks for teh props on the mesh panties... I'm glad to be of service. When I ever get prego again, you'll have to return the favor with all the latest updates of childbirth since we last delivered together.
LOL!!!How could I have forgotten about the mesh panties and the squirt bottle nurse?!! It must be something in the drugs that make us forget.
If you really despise the mesh panites (really who doesn't!) you can get those boy briefs by Hanes at Walmart which work very well and are pretty comfy. Anything is better then those mesh things!
LOL. OMG. I have a GREAT story about mesh panties.
Must. Write. A. Post.
That picture KILLED ME. HAHAHAH! First, who the HELL looks like THAT after having a baby? AND THEN? Who would wear that if they hadn't?

You know, I guess they didn't care if I wore the mesh panties, but I figured it really made no difference at that point. When I had Beaux I was generally clueless, didn't get out of bed without force, etc. With Bella? The next am I got up and went to the bathroom, cleaned up a bit, etc. The nurses were like "Are you insane!?" Ha!
